As far as the keto diet, Would one lose weight if they only changed part of the diet?
Keto diet works by changing your metabolism from insulin based to ketosis (in the liver). To get into ketosis, you have to severely limit all carbohydrates (so you don't stimulate insulin release) and up the amount of healthy fats in your diet. Ketosis metabolizes fat directly, even your stored fat, which is why you can lose weight quickly.
It's a fairly radical change in your diet, and can cause some stress.

I haven't been following it closely and gained back 15 lbs. Eating too much summer fruit. I will get back to it soon, now that melon season is over.

sounds like a lot of stress on the body.
