Thanks, Troyer, I don't know what he is, I'm just saying I think he has genetics for brown eggs. Because I don't see evidence of him being an Easter Egger (facial hair, so to speak, or a pea comb); nor evidence of being a white-egg layer (white earlobes). I have no reason to believe he is an OE, not at all. But what we're thinking is, if he has genetics of being a brown-egg layer*, and breeds the EE hens, the resulting chicks should be OEs. Does that sound right?
*of course I don't mean HE would lay brown eggs, but that genetically he has the DNA of chicken breed that lays brown eggs ...
