Granny's gone and done it again

Okay, @CapricornFarm, got the pictures of the rock.

The thing is about as big as a small cantaloupe. It was a real joy to carry uphill back to the house in my treasure bag with the other rocks I found.

I tried to get a close up picture of the quartz lacing in it in the upper photo. Like I said, the closest thing I can find to matching it is lace quartz but then I'm no expert, just a happy rock hunter.

Want me to ask my kids that go rock hunting?

I noticed an egg in the incubator has a crack. So i will be duct taping that tonight. I candled it, and it is developing.
First use of the incubator this year.
I've used candle wax on cracked eggs before with good results. Mine were about 3 days away from hatching though so not enough time for them to get an infection. Still the eggs were damaged when the lid slipped off my incubator. All three that survived, and spackled together with candle wax, hatched and lived.

Guess my mystery find will continue to be a mystery and until I can get a definitive answer it will remain a raw lace quartz rock. If I can figure out how to cut through the beast I may try but it's such a really cool rock I hate to do that.

My husband will rock hunt with me and is good at spotting 'finds' I was on my own the day I found the mystery rock though. Yeah, rock hunting is more fun when you have company.

My daughter wonders if it's a type of sectarian nodule. The outside of them can have a lot of different looks to them..but the inside has pretty "stuff". 😁
Sectarian nodule.....I'm going to look that up! Tell your daughter many thanks!

I looked it up! I think we have a winner! That looks pretty much like what I have.

Cynthia again, please thank you DD for me. I've been staring at this thing for about 8 months trying to figure out what it is.

Now I have to decide whether I want to cut it. No way I could polish it. My tumbler isn't big enough.

If you ever have something that needs to be tumbled and you want to risk shipping it, I have a 65 pound rotary tumbler that I run 24/7/365.
I also have an 18" stone saw that can cut up to 7".
