They don't want them going feral and messing up the ecosystem here. Ferrets are not native in CA, and could really disrupt the species that are meant to be here. It's like those Eurasian collared doves that have taken over. I haven't seen a mourning dove in 15 yrs. The invasive doves have taken all the habitat.

They do make good pets, I knew a girl that had a dozen or so ..but I can understand CA not wanting people to get tired of them and just turn them loose. Like Floridians did with pet snakes now causing havoc in the Everglades!
