Granny's gone and done it again

We have 4 dogs, two are 12 years old and two are 8 months old. We have always fed free choice dog food and have never had over weight dogs.
I don't understand the struggle of over weight dogs at all.

Granny, a puppy that was partially starved will eat ravenously until he gets the proper nutrition. We fed our Cur pup an egg morning and evening until he didn't just gulp it down anymore along with free choice Victor brand puppy food. It actually got to the point that he didn't even want the egg at all. His hair is shiny, slick and as thick as hound hair can be. Last week when the temperature went up to the upper 70's to lower 80's he acted like it was too warm and lay on the dirt in the shade, that tells me he has an excellent coat.
We often feed two brands simultaneously, those being Diamond Naturals and Victor.

Edited to add: we feed breed size and age specific varieties.
You are correct about the epidemic of fat pets. I think it is just too much. Giving them treats constantly and over feeding.

The epidemic of obese kids and the high rate of diabetes in this country is basically because of all the processed food we eat. Eating whole foods it is much harder to overeat.

Can you keep the cat food on top of the washer/ dryer where the dog can't get to it? If you pm me I have a suggestion that may help keep her out of it. It won't hurt her
Does the cat food give her diarrhea?
she has diarrhea before she had cat food
The cats are too fat to jump on anything.

Blue, you are right about supplementing kibble with good whole food. Just like people animals do not do well on processed foods
Thank you. I forgot to include that she also gets a scrambled egg sometimes also. Any time I have a cracked egg, or one that is sub-standard in any way that I don't want to sell, it becomes a Gracie egg. Sadly, Sammy doesn't get extras other than the frozen [oumpkun] PUMPKIN because he is a puker.
