Well he's wrong. I lost chickens to them myself. It was a slaughter, and the possum was still there! My husband won’t kill them. He says they don’t bother the chickens.
That possum was way too big for an owl to carry i think. But no way to know for sure.Maybe an owl came through and helped himself, it would be an easy target.
I was thinking in those lines as well.
I was out looking for morel mushrooms today when Bowser who was out ahead of me a bit, started barking, if he barks aggressively I know to take notice. It was brushy enough that I couldn't see him but he wasn't very far away. Captain was with me and when he heard the barking he dashed off to see what was going on. When he got to where Bowser was barking he excitedly started barking too. I quickly ran over to them to see what had set them off that much and of all things they had cornered a fox in a small hollow at the base of a tree. The fox couldn't get back far enough to get out of their reach and they pulled him out and killed him.
Maybe put food color in the egg with a needle on a syringe. We are not out there enough but I will look.
They will take eggs instead if available, but i collect mine regularly. Luckily they rarely get into the coops.I guess our possums are well fed. We haven’t had an attack.
OuchMorning all, Tom scrapped his leg pretty bad. Lots of blood too. I cleaned it and put ointment on. Gross.
