Granny's gone and done it again

I think it was called a Jack Fruit. Something exotic.

I brought one of the May hatched chicks back in with me. It has had a bad night and needs some egg yolk and Gatorade. I'm getting most of the bottle of Gatorade. I've still got two coops to check that usually need the least of attention because there are so few birds in them. Today I'm a little wiser and knew to get back inside for a short break before falling into my chair soaking wet. Expecting a high of 97° while under a heat advisory. I need to pay attention to it for once. I do have to haul feed from town and put a few bags in coop bins a little at a time. Days like today I slow down instead or working so fast to get back inside. Even us old coots can learn a lesson sometimes. I'm not hatching this time of year so if a few hens lay mix and match eggs I don't care. Chances are they will get them back in a feeder scrambled. Have a good day all. Hope to be back around late today.
Check your meds. There are a lot out there that can cause you to sweat more..can cause folks to be more susceptible to heat stroke. Good to hear that your taking it easy with this heat. I'm on a medication that cautions this. I'm out there for a very short time and come in wet. I was wondering what in the world is causing this. I looked up my new med. Yep. Warns you not to stay in the extra warm weather long.

I've had those in the past as well as some I had to avoid sunshine too. It was an antibiotic that made me stay in the shade. May be also be a water pill that keeps me out of the heat and sun. I'm not taking that now.

The little 8 week old pullet is doing ok. Not good enough to put back in the coop in this heat but back with the group after dark when it is cooler. I have a better place for them for another 4 weeks starting tonight. These kids mean so much to me.
