Went to the grocery store today. Rib eye steak was $17.99 lb. The one I was looking at was just under a pound for sixteen something. I said no thanks. People keep buying it like it's no big deal it'll just keep getting higher. I don't know who's doing the gouging but I'm not falling for it.

I'm not falling for it either. The only beef we buy now is ground round most of the time. Which ever is the cheapest on sale is good enough. I like my beef pre chewed with that big machine they have. I think the stores are gouging on holiday weekends thinking everyone will spend on a grilling party.

I stopped buying steak when it was $9. a lb.

We stopped buying steak about 2 and a half - 3 years ago when it all tasted awful. I imagine It was around 6-7 a pound for strip steaks back then. I really don't know. Even then we didn't buy any that wasn't on sale.

We almost never eat beef. A little ground beef once in a great while, just as a change from chicken and fish. Mostly we eat plant-based foods, but we're not total vegetarians. I wish we were but I'm not a good enough cook for that yet. Working on it, though!
