Granny's gone and done it again

Brother and I drove over closer and waited for her calf and Hailey (only 2 still hanging around her) to get out of the way. Brother pops her one and she drops like a rock. "cool" back to get the bobcat. I am on my way down to pick her up with the bobcat and SHE LIFTS HER FRICKING HEAD UP and looks at me, she couldn't get up. Brother came down with the rifle and popped her again from about 2 ft away. NOPE she's still alive so he pops her for the FOURTH time. fiinally no movement. I get on the graple and start heading up the hill all of the sudden her hind legs start kicking . NO WAY blood is pouring out of her mouth. Get her into the coop and of course the knives and saw-zall are back up in the shop.

Shot placement is critical. Regardless of caliber. I shot a deer once and it ran a 100 yards. Shot another one and it fell in it's tracks. Same gun. Learned my lesson. An old time hunter told me about how a neck shot would be almost an instant death for a deer and a shot in the ear from the side would be as instant as you could get it. A gut shot with an elephant rifle will not bring down a cow of any kind until the die a slow and painful death. :(

A hen and a cockerel in a stand-off. She whupped him and he went running.
