Granny's gone and done it again

Autism & Food
Please don't feel upset if I don't eat the turkey today.
Or if I don't like your homemade stuffing.
I have autism. Food can be hard for me.
If I taste something with many textures and ingredients, I have to stop and sort out all the different flavors so my brain can recognize them.
That's why I don't like foods with a lot of mixed-up things, like sweet potatoes with marshmallows.
Please don't insist I try something that you love because you can't understand why I won't also love it.
Please don't insist I will eat when I am good and ready.
Watch my parents.
See how my father quietly hands me the snack we packed from home.
Notice how my mother gently offers a few small bites of food she thinks I will enjoy.
They know. On days like today, when my schedule is different and there are lots of new smells and noises, they know what's most important is that I eat something.
I don't make my best choices when I'm hungry.
Today, see me as I am.
Meet me where I stand.
Happy Thanksgiving.
Same can be said for so called normal people.

I am at page 813 and don't have time to get caught up. Sabbath starts in about 20 minutes. I just wanted to come on and say howdy, hope all are well, and I'll see y'all tomorrow night. Cynthia, you have a beautiful family! Granny, loved your poem(?) about autism, it was very enlightening! Thanks to both of you for sharing! ❤️

25 degrees right now and trending into the upper teens for overnight lows. Our “normally outdoor” dogs are enjoying the warmth as well.

Sounds like us. Down into the teens 4 nights in a row starting tomorrow night. Glad your pups are comfy. Warms my heart to see this.
