You can cut it up like you were going to fry and the add an onion and fresh tomatoes diced up and simmer that down to where the slime goes away. The acid in the tomato reacts with the slime's base. That's called okra salad in the deep south. Getting enough tomato in it is a must for the base to be neutralized. The onion is not a must have if one doesn't like it or can't eat it. We also pickle it with dill. It is supposed to come out crispy. The last batch didn't come out as crispy as I like. At least it wasn't slimy. I want some pickled like bread and butter pickles next season. You can see the okra salad in cans in some stores.I fry, no likey the slime..
