I did once. I was just starting to sit down in moms car and got hit from behind. Jerked me a new one. Insurance came out and offered me $500. I said that wnt even cover the er visit! He said so sue us and I said ok. I did.
I didn't think I would ever. But when I was guardian of my little sister..I did go after the facility she was in. They took these mentally handicapped people..more like kids..out to the lake. To swim! None could swim. And, they took them without life jackets.

There were several that went but not enough workers to watch them all because .. my sister drowned. A guy saw her floating face down in the water. He yelled at the other guy, they drug her out and was heading to the van they came in. What? No CPR? There was a woman there that saw them taking her and yelled..put her down! She ran over and started CPR. She worked as a CNA. As I did in the past. She had them call 911 and kept working with her. Long story short, that woman saved her life. When I got to the hospital she was intubated. Unresponsive. They had already done imaging. The Dr. wasn't making any promises. My husband was with me. As most of you know by now we're religious folks. My husband holds the Priesthood. They were ready to take her to a room..intensive care. We said we wanted to give her a blessing first. Found someone else in the hospital that held the Priesthood. She was blessed to come through this. I had my head bowed, but looked up as a nurse moved over by us. As the blessing was said, the nurse looked at the dr. When finished they proceeded to get her ready to be taken to ICU. As we got close to the door, she lifted her knee a bit. The Dr. yelled..stop! He went to her and pinched her her up by her breast bone. She moaned and literally lifted her arm to swipe at the pain. He looks at me and says, this is a good sign! It is a long story. So much happend. Another sister showed up. The owner of the place was there. I was being nice to them. My sister's husband got upset with that. Used a few choice words against them. Lisa was still unconscious through all of this, but I didn't like what was going on. The owner..and his wife went out in the hall to leave. I just said, well be talking. Go home myself. Call in the morning. Nurse said she was squeezing her hand when asked if she could hear her. She was taken off the breathing tube later that day..the next day! Dr. couldn't believe it. Another thing. While she was out of it, they found bruises on her body. Not her chest from doing CPR. Her arms and legs. Later she told me she had fought a boy and he kicked her. Well, of course I moved her from that facility, as my lawyers moved on with everything. Took a couple of years but finally got a settlement for her. The money had to be spent only on her needs. No food. Things of comfort, enjoyable things. I went all out on her Christmas's. Another thing. I couldn't sue for anything else that might come up from it all. Which it did. Her kidney's were damaged. She is the one you've heard me talk about that ..finally went on Dialysis and decided enough. She passed away here at home. My goodness. I haven't told the story in a while and this isn't the half of it. I actually had to get after the kidney specialist to get her started with Dialysis. I have no idea what in the world he was doing because her numbers were way past where they normally start Dialysis. I hadn't been able to go to all of the office visits, but finally could. This place I had her in should have told the dr..it's time. She had stopped eating, dragging feet. I was yelling at this dr. when I went in that second time asking him why in the world he was waiting. Bronwyn had driven me. She told Austin..boy the mama bear came out today. Told him more things that were going on. He says, well I guess we can start. I moved her to another facility..again. These places have regular drs come in to visit. When this dr. at the new place came in, saw her records, says to her, do you know how close you were to dieing? Lisa didn't look mentally handicapped, not like a Down Syndrome. I don't think he would have right out said that to her. Anyway. Probably could have sued that kidney guy. Don't like calling him a dr. Went through a lot, but thankful I had her a year longer. Close to. Could have been longer if her fistula's would have worked right. Bless her heart. She had been through so much she just wanted to go see mom. She had been with mom all her life until mom passed then I took her for a couple of years. Won't go another page and a half as to why I placed her. Plus I feel guilty enough. Such a cute little giggle. I can hear it now. Oh and the money that was left went to the state. They had been paying all of her dr bills and fir the places. Made sense. That was fine with me. Was grateful for her being able to be taken care of by ..some..good drs. She really did have good ones towards the end. I made sure of that. I needed to be driven back then, but I got there for most appointments and hospital stays. She's happy now, with mom.
