Granny's gone and done it again

I'm not quite that crazy but maybe yet one day. The little honey colored on in the bottom right turned out to be a pullet that sleeps in a kennel in the sunroom. She is a pet from the get go. She finally went boy crazy and spends the day out with a young fellow we hatched here. She is Cubalaya x American Game Fowl. The little fellow on the bottom left is the boy in my icon you see here. What a difference a few months made. The one in the back is now much smaller than the one in my icon now. Of the three the icon boy is the youngest.

Last night, hubby had me help him take the car to the service place, and I brought my truck so we could go back home. Today he picked up the car, and I drove the truck. I stopped at an old place I have been wanting to check out for some time. It's abandoned, but just off the main road. The roof is in good shape and there's lots of very nice wood in the house. Two nice mantels, each on one of the two fireplaces. No furniture, and the only useful things I found were various jars. I love looking at old places.

Pics of the mantels would be interesting. I grew up in an old house in Denver, two stories, an attic and a basement. It had a fireplace made of white brick, not real brick, I don't think, but those little 2x4" face bricks that in my memory were shiny like mother of pearl. There was a beautiful elaborate dark wood mantel over it with wooden pillars on each side. I want to say I think the house was built in the '20's maybe?

I've been in and and out seeing who was here. Past my bedtime now. I got neck deep into some genetics that tickle my fancy. Any way Goodnight everyone. I need to get some sleep so I can work tomorrow.
Goodnight
