Granny's gone and done it again

I literally think it hatched while she was out with the others. Like right before we got home cause this is what it looked like when we got down there and I picked it up.

It's the walls. But I did forget I do have some spare chicken wire.. I will star some in tomorrow. Thank you my brain has quit working. After spending 5 hours of my life on phone with irs it doesn't think too well now

you could also open the bags and staple them to the wood if you run out of wire.
I dont think its a good thing she left that baby there.

She said it's younger, so might just be slower. If they're blocked in it has more of a chance. But you're right, sometimes they're just weaker. One of the littles I got today is a little puny and lethargic. Drank a ton of water and went right under Cinder, so hoping it just needed some care and access to food/water that it didn't need to fight for.

Is she a first time mama ? Surely she knew it was about to hatch but she left with the others to let it get cold.

Yes first time broody.. the others are only like a day older.. these babies are from the babies I got last July. I will check it tomorrow and figure a way to kind of keep them separate from bigger chickens maybe. Do you think she would freak out if I put her and babies in with the other broody hen I have that has one baby

she needs to be enclosed with the babies by herself. Is there more eggs ?

Just remembered what my GM would do. She had a small dog house for the rain or whatever and she would tie the mamas leg on a short string so it couldnt go off and the babies of course would stick by mama. You might could use a zip tie on her leg making sure to cut the extra off so it wont get tight on her and keep her close to her nest.
