Granny's gone and done it again

There's been a snake in my henhouse! :eek: GC helped me get it out. It was about a 3' black rat snake and it had at least one egg in it. She was so brave, she REALLY does not like snakes! ❤️
Scary!!! Glad you got it!!! I love snakes but not in the coop!!! And not egg eaters!!! They can eat rats!!!

I am immune to fear of little snakes like this character. Shortly after I moved here in 2010, I had to help DH kill not one but TWO ginormous six-foot monsters nearly as big around as my leg, living under the coop. It was quite surreal! I agree, I have no vendetta against snakes. They can live their lives in peace - anywhere but in my hen house.

Black snakes are actually good to have around. If, you can spare an egg here and there. They keep Copperhead snakes at bay if you have those around. Black rat snakes are extremely beneficial since they eat large amounts of rats, mice, and other pest animals. Farmers appreciate having snakes around for this reason.
