Granny's gone and done it again

I didn't find it so. But I love scones and they are def worth it!... can't eat them so much now, gotta watch that blood sugar.

(Feeding pigs by letting them harvest peanuts themselves) not to mention easy! Could you do the same with, say, potatoes or sugar beets? Or do only peanuts provide the proper protein?
There is a type of stock beet called a Mangel (spelling) more like a sugar beet. I don't think potatoes would work as they are a member of the nightshade family and are probably toxic with stems and leaves. The stock beets may work in the north where they grow better. Peanuts are best in the FL Panhandles sandy ground. They probably being a legume have the best complete proteins that pigs can use. Now the drawback is I would consider pork run on pasture rooting peanuts unclean unless properly wormed. Tape Worms. Swift and Company at one time long ago only used pigs that had been fed on cement floors that had running water over them available to keep them clean and keep the tape worms out of the pork they sold.

You're so knowledgeable, Larry! You constantly amaze me.

Long ago in NW MO there was a minister that frequently told his congregation that men were made in the closet not in the pew. Careful reading by the book or letter and not concentrating on the Catholic priests chapter and verse scheme or layout makes more sense to me as it is much harder to take something out of context (life some family members do) if you understand first what the recipients of the letter had asked and were experiencing. I loved to read my old encyclopedias. I had a set of Britannica. Sure miss them. That minister also said that if we could not find it in the book then don't believe it coming from the pulpit even if he said it. He was my all time best friend. We could disagree and still be best friends.

Well I've cooled down and need to get back to my tilling before it gets any hotter. Peas and Okra will not plant themselves. Neither will the tomato and pepper plants that are the perfect size now to get in the ground for the fall crop of canning for making chili and spaghetti. Y'all be good and stay cool. And granny that goes for you too. Drinks some good cold ice water between cups of coffee for your body's sake. We need you around these parts a lot more years.

If that's all they have access to, that's all they will eat. But only feeding peanuts is not proper nutrition. The pigs will end up with other deficiencies. My brother raised pigs, and just l like all other animals, they will need other nutrients for good health
