Granny's gone and done it again

Congrats scott. Nice to know you will be getting a puppy. I can't imagine not helping the mom and leaving her in a kennel.this is when I usually loose a puppy during whelping. But I am prob touch hands on.

Good Morning!

Darby had her puppies yesterday afternoon(4/30)! 8 of them! They are beautiful and Darby is such a wonderful mother. Yesterday morning all signs were pointing towards her having her pups within 24 hours. I checked back later that morning and again at lunch time, still no pups. I made some adjustments to her kennel mid-morning because the weather was supposed to be cold (30s) and rainy/snowy. I went inside for lunch with my family, played a quick round of duck- duck- goose and headed out to check on her again. It had began to rain/snow. She had 1 female puppy! I stayed with her throughout the afternoon. At times in the day there were large snowflakes falling! She had the puppies with no troubles at all and was so careful with them. Late in the afternoon our 4 year old daughter came out to "help." Believe it or not, a 4 year old is incapable of sitting still and being very quiet for more than ... 45 seconds. So we decided to give Darby a break and left her alone to relax. She relaxed, and had 2 more puppies over our dinner hour. Then, had the final pup around 8:30pm, a male. The total count is 5 males, 3 females.

Below is a list of everyone's placement on the list and their preference of puppy sex. Unfortunately, we don't have enough for everyone. If you are further down the list, I will email you a little later.

1. Kathy T Female

2. Mark E Female

3. Sandy P Female

4. Susan F Male

5. Dale S Male

6. Scott M Male

7. Dan N. Female

8. Dennis F

9. Chris R

10. Monty G

11. Kara F

I'd like to thank you all for being patient and waiting for one of our pups! Some of you have waited over a year, how nice of you! For those of you who won't be getting one from this litter, I'm sorry!

I have photos on my phone, I will email some out later and will post them on Facebook too. (The photos are either in black and white or have a red tint to them, as the heat lamps are red.) It's supposed to be 60 today, it's still sprinkling, we ended up not getting any snow other than a few flakes. However, 1 hour east of here there have 1+ inches! Watching Darby have her puppies with big white snow flakes coming down made it clear again, Nature is Amazing!

Thanks again, and we'll take any prayers/well wishes for the pups, and Darby. Accidents can still happen.

Cool! You've been waiting a long time. Are all her pups the same color? I forget what color male you wanted...

should be both parents are liver and white. Which is the recessive I believe. Waiting for pics and then a whole 6 to 8 more weeks is going to do me in.

me as well unless the mother is sneaky, I like to make sure the sack is broken open and then trim umbilical cord so there are fewer worries about a herinia .
