Granny's gone and done it again

A married couple in their early 60s are celebrating their 40th wedding anniversary in a quiet, romantic little restaurant. Suddenly, a tiny yet beautiful fairy appeared on their table. She said, 'For being such an exemplary married couple and for being loving to each other for all this time, I will grant you each a wish.' The wife answered, 'Oh, I want to travel around the world with my darling husband.'
The fairy waved her magic wand and - poof! - two tickets for the Queen Mary II appeared in her hands.
The husband thought for a moment: 'Well, this is all very romantic, but an opportunity like this will never come again. I'm sorry my love, but my wish is to have a wife 30 years younger than me.'
The wife, and the fairy, were deeply disappointed, but a wish is a wish! So the fairy waved her magic wand and poof!...
The husband became 92 years old.
The moral of this story:
Men who are ungrateful should remember fairies are female..

😂 Love it!!!

I just asked Robert if he thought he could take care of his dad if they were to admit me and he said no, "I cant even take care of myself" So what am I supposed to do with that?

You're supposed to let us outvote him because he's not thinking straight.
What would he do without you in his life?
We need to take care of you. Put your oxygen mask on first, just like we told passengers on flights.

If you have to make it as easy on Robert as possible, go to the hospital when Tom has just laid down to sleep. Chances are you'll be back before he's been awake for long. And maybe you'll get a nice nap in a hospital bed that raises up and with help to get in and out of it.

For all we know, something worse could be going on than they first thought. Pain is supposed to be telling us something... or so my mom has always said.

I have thought hard on this and wonder how Tom would do with me gone but its at the point where I may not have a choice. Nancy said if I go she would come get me

I'm going to tell a little story to make my next pushy suggestion. hehe.

So once upon a time we had a landlady who my mom dubbed "the wicked witch of the west" lol. We were on a huge farm (where I could keep my horse), and she had to go past our house everyday on her golfcart to make the half mile trip to her barn.
I won't go into everything, although there's a whole part 2 to the story... but she required to keep the electric in her name and would just show us the bill so we could pay that amount. After a year, my mom was out one day when the electric company was updating the meters and she got to talking about the huge bills (for 2 people in a 2 bedroom, it was $250-$300 / month). He pointed down to the outdoor lighting and the big barn... well, you guessed it. The electric for her barn and lights were all on our meter.
So my mom put her foot down and used the internet to estimate a reasonable electric rate for the dwelling size and appliances in use. The landlady had a fit.
Among the many things she did (the worst is part 2), she called animal control with some odd claims about our "sick" dog (she was fine, they shook their heads and left).
The next day I answered the door to 2 ladies from "adult services" (social workers). The landlady knew of my condition in passing, she told them she didn't think I was eating (lol I'm cutely chubby).
Anyway, those ladies were SO nice. After a brief glance in the fridge and a few minutes of polite inquiry they told me if I ever did have problems I should call their office.
Granted, the sort of help they could offer is not the kind I would have chosen (like a group care situation). But the point is, they were not scary or bossy like the tv makes such workers seem. I hope it's the same everywhere.
... So maybe, if your state runs an ok program Granny, maybe it might not be too scary to get the number for the adult division of social services, and just ask them on the phone if they could offer any help while you get your health sorted out? Surely there are many people out there in similar situations who normally care for a loved one but need temporary assistance? If they could that would be a God-send.
Maybe others in this thread might know something on this topic?
