woke up this am to blood and puss all over the bathroom floor.   I didnt actually see it til we got to the vets but there is a quarter size very deep hole right next to his butt.  It seems his anal gland ruptured .  Full of infection.

and now I am fighting tom because the tick that bit him and I believe the head is still in there now has puss in it. 

3 more babies so far outside. trying to get brooders ready. I am so tired.  Looks like I might be spending the evening at urgent care . dont know yet.

I would have never thought of the anal gland! Usually cats don't have problems with them, it's the dogs that do. Did she express the other? And shave the area?

Shadow is 16.  still seeing blood in the bathroom.   They flushed the hole out. Thats one job I wouldnt do.

It'll drain for awhile. It's not too bad flushing. You don't have to use a needle. It's like if you would use a water gun to spray someone:

Im home and thanks to the well wishers. Umm, I brought Shadow back home . Vet refused to put him down. said his heart and lungs sounded good . Didnt matter what I thought. The problem was found and is being treated. He is also on arthritis meds now. He got a couple shots of antibiotics and he is sleeping it off . Details are pretty gross so I will leave it there.

That's what I was afraid of.

I love EEs and my new little CCLs are sooo pretty! If it's real EE (from hatchery) then it may never get wattles, so makes it harder to tell. Keep showing us pics as she grows... I think she's going to be beautiful.

Poor cat. The cosequin for arthritis?... we might be able to find it cheaper for you if you are going to keep him on it. If his arthritis is so bad that he can't reach his rear end to clean it properly, he may have a recurring problem.

and that's the kind vet I like !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The one I currently use would do the same. Other beeotch in town basically wants the animal to die a long slow expensve death

The "new" vets certainly do seem to push the expensive treatments. Old school vets seemed to understand that the animal doesn't live in a vacuum, and the whole family situation has to be considered when making these decisions.

ER is connected to a larger hospital. Urgent care is usually a self contained clinic.

Hi huney, Im home ..... antibiotics 4xs a day for Tom. I suggested a shot in the butt to kick start it but Tom didnt think that a good Idea. I said, That will help that boil you dont have on your butt ! Told him I was taking him to urgent care . I knew I should of made that left at Abucurky and ended up at the hospital. Meh, whats up doc.? It was a surprisingly short visit then CVS kept us for an hr. Tom is not happy with me right now. Dont care !

Not sure how but managed to get 2 brooders ready and feed the chickens. 3 new babies so far of 10. 2 in one nest and one in the other. SEE, I can math !

Tomorrow is day 14 for my camp/lisa eggs.

It was very hot in the hospital. I went to take my jacket off and heard clunk.

Anyone want a couple fresh eggs ? Lady at the desk said, Thats the weirdest thing I have ever heard and I have worked here a long time.

I pulled them out of my pocket and said I forgot, it happens. LOL She takes a look and ask what kind are they ? Bird eggs ? Nope, breed of the smallest chicken in the world . I dont think she believed me.

Cat is in his bathroom (its his now) dripping nasty ol blood and puss. He must be fevered because he has decided to sleep in the garden tub.
Ally, vet didnt do none of that stuff and I told the woman helping her to get her hands off my cat. She was hurting him for no reason. vet wasnt even examining him. she had finished and this nit wit still had him down in a tight grip.

Anyway. Long day and I aint doing another thing.

Poor Tom, I hate meds. That's funny about the eggs! She probably thought you were lying about them

But then again she probably didn't know it's possible for chickens to lay tiny eggs.

Unless he's hairless you are supposed to clip the area around the rupture so the hair doesn't irritate it further. Then clean it. & You are not supposed to over hold a cat like that. Especially older ones.

They can get too stressed and turn blue. I always held them and scratched their ears or chin. Unless they get a shot or something else unpleasant then scruff and football them. It's actually pretty comical

Cause all you see is cat butt!

I was tending to this one cat for half an hour. She was getting SQ fluids slowly and a massage. She actually fell asleep on the counter

I looked up the med. for arthritis. $16.00 on line, $25.00 from vet. That dont include shipping though.
