Maybe I could try that outside because do you have any idea how stupid and clumsy bantams are? Did I mention that they are really STUPID? Well actually all chickens are lacking when it comes to gray matter. Probably because they were standing between humans and dolphins when God was handing out brains and saw something sparkly on the ground 4 feet away and broke line to see what it was.

But seriously, I had a small tub in my coop when I had heavy bodied chickens that I set out one day under the gutter when it was raining. This was in summer and I thought I would score myself some water for them so I wouldn't have to walk back to the house for it. Went out to the coop and found my beautiful Creole Heavy bodied rooster dead in the tub. It was one of those mineral tubs for cattle. Only about a foot-18 inches deep. All he had to do was jump out of it but for some reason he didn't. I found him bobbling like a cork, quite deceased, head over the side of the tub. Still amazes me that he died unless he panicked and gave himself a heart attack. The water wasn't cold enough to give him hyperthermia....in June or July.

I can only imagine what my brain dead SDW and BBR bantams would do to themselves if I put one of those in the coop. Quite doable in the run though and I have in the past found dead rats in our main stock tank near the barn so it might be worth a try.

Just remembered in a panic that I was supposed to pay the car insurance today. Oops. Thank God for on line and credit cards!

Getting a shower and heading for bed. Time changes suck. My body hates it when time changes mess with it's sleep.
