Not eating certain animals is cultural. I can't eat any animal that is a pet. Dad used to shoot nuisance pigeons and we ate them. Most people would see that as gross. How can people eat veal? Butcher a cute little calf? We had a calf barn fire when I was little and it didn't kill the calves but some had smoke inhalation and we butchered them. They were milk fed so their meat was tender and my Uncle made a fuss that it is gross. I couldn't eat it anymore after that
