Granny's gone and done it again

Robert says, Hey mom, I saved the freezer last night . Everything was thawed out and warm but it was the plug in the wall and I moved it so it came back on. Make sure you taste everything before you eat it....

Im assuming he got caught in the cord and ripped from its place in the wall. Im sure none of my food will be good .

edited to add, the wall socket . not the plug.
How long do you think it was unplugged? Food just doesn't spoil that fast... plus most of it is wrapped up and it was in the freezer... most of it was probably pretty sterile. The food has to be contaminated by mold spores or bacteria to have a problem. Just because it got to room temp doesn't necessarily mean it's spoiled. My mom said when she was a kid the Thanksgiving turkey, with stuffing inside, sat out on their counter, covered, for the few days it took them to finish it. No one ever got sick. I have left soup out on the stove overnight (with the lid on) because I didn't want to warm up the fridge, and we ate it the next day without trouble. I think there is too much foolishness about these "use by" dates on everything nowadays. It's a marketing tactic mostly. Use your senses, and if something doesn't seem right, toss it, but otherwise it might be perfectly good!

HATE the chit brown on herds and to be honest most of the rest of it as well.

I wonder if we truly hate the "new" byc site if we get refunded for un-used golden feather or if we can donate it to a different member.
Nifty has said it's going to be as close to BYC as they can get, hoping that includes the color scheme. Some things will even be better, like it will automatically save a draft of your post in case you accidentally leave the page before posting... it will be there when you get back!

Robert said his waffles and jerky were warm . I dont know.
Just moved 3 of the 4 serama eggs to the old bator. I hope it holds long enough for them to hatch. I can hear one peeping.

Stuff like jerky and waffles will be fine anyway. I wouldn't waste the deer meat for sure. If you just did the shopping... what day? It was still cold/frozen when you put things in? Insulated freezer will stay cold a long time. Some things thaw at different rates. Stuff on the bottom stays colder longer. It would have to have been unplugged for quite awhile for anything to feel "warm" I think. I've taken frozen stuff in a cooler when camping, and it lasted 4 days staying cold.

Warm or just not frozen? Warm to the touch would have to be 80-85, right? I guess, unless your hands are just super cold.

Waffles and jerky would thaw faster than a block of meat.

When my daughter was in college she called to say the refrigeration door was left open., should she throw everything away? I said no. Catsup and mustard don't go bad that fast.
