It took me 3 months to get right around $300. in food stamps for 5 kids. There are 6 of them but one was old enough to take care of himself.

I had nothing to do with it. The state had been taking the kids away from her for years, since GC was two, but I didn't have a place of my own. I'd been working as a live-in caregiver for several years before I married DH. All the kids were in and out of foster care. Then one day the state called me and said they were looking for permanent placement for the oldest girlDid she give the kids up or did you have to take them and how long have you had them? I had to do foster care when I got my grandkids.
The older of the two middle boys was doing really well in the foster home he was in, and it was decided to leave him there. He did in fact grow up in that home, went on to college and is about to graduate from college, so that did prove to be the best choice for him. He is GC's full brother.Wow Blue! So there were 4? Where are the other 2 now? That's a lot to add on to a new marriage.
Why did state not give the other 2? Did they give you a reason?
This is awesome Blue. A happy ending to a stressful beginning for those children and all because of you.The older of the two middle boys was doing really well in the foster home he was in, and it was decided to leave him there. The next youngest, who is our boy's full brother (DD was married twice), had some serious issues and grew up mostly in group homes but was in and out of foster homes. He just graduated hs and is doing real well out on his own now. I don't think he plans college but does have a job and is doing well. He calls me more often than any of the other grandkids. He's my boy!![]()
Thanks, Granny. Really, all bc of DH. If he hadn't married me I wouldn't have had a home to offer them. If he hadn't been the kind of man he is, to say "of course!" to a couple of kids at the age of ... 55? or so... to still be working to support them and me at the age of 69 ... he's the one! This is awesome Blue. I would put it in writing, lodge a formal complaint and make sure it goes in her file. How many others has she treated this way? Maybe she needs to find another kind of employment.Granny, you need to go to the director of nursing along with the social services office and tell them what happened. Lodge a complaint, raise hell if you have to but make them listen. That is totally unprofessional behavior on the part of that nurse and all involved and something I would have never done to the family of one of my residents.
All involved should be disciplined. Totally unacceptable behavior.
