Granny's gone and done it again

Never heard of studded snow tires? We had them in Washington.
nope.
Poor Kelsey! :hugsThursday seems like a long way away when you're in that kind of pain. Can you go to an Urgent Care type of clinic to get something for pain to hold you till then?
She would be lucky if they wrote her for Motrin and she can buy that OTC.

I tried calling over Tom this AM and it rang busy, Through the day I hit redial only to get the same thing. Y'all, I was calling the wrong # all day! Anyway, nurse said he had a good day and was excited to be coming home Wednesday. She said she didn't need to remind him of the day, He told her. She went on to say what a great guy he is. Always polite and kind to her and she was going to miss him. I hear this from everyone that takes care of him.

I honestly don't know Blue. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't scared. I just hope he doesn't start falling again.
Do you know what exercises they're having him do, and can you keep him doing them? If he continues his PT at home he should stay strong and not fall. But just laying around all day, he'll get weak again.

(Same goes for you, Lady.)

You mean vertigo happens more often when we get older? I had my worst episodes when I was 50, but that is when all my health went downhill for a couple years. I managed to get it all back on track, but now in my older years, the vertigo has reared its ornery head again.
loose ear crystals, also known as otoconia, are more likely to happen with age:

  • Prevalence
Benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV), the condition caused by loose ear crystals, is more common in people over 60. It's estimated that about half of all people will experience BPPV at some point in their lives.

  • Causes
As people age, their crystals can become more beaten up and cracked, making them more likely to fall out of place. The number and volume of otoliths decreases over time, and the fibers connecting them can weaken.

  • Symptoms
BPPV causes vertigo, which is an illusion of movement. Symptoms can include feeling like you're falling out of bed when you lie down, or being thrown back onto the bed when you get up.

  • Treatment
Physical therapy can help most patients. In some cases, a surgical procedure called a “posterior canal plugging” may be considered.

  • Recurrence
Symptoms can return if new crystals break off or if you dislodge loose crystals. About 50% of people may experience a recurrence within 3 years.
