Granny's gone and done it again

Nice that he's doing more cooking. Sounds like he did a pretty good job!

I made baked beans today. They were too sweet but good. Next time, half the brown sugar. Recipe called for bacon of course. I just put in a couple Tbsp of Liquid Smoke and it came out pretty good. We have a Liquid Smoke factory here. One of Melissa's former bf worked there. Today she told me she thinks what she liked best about him was how good he smelled. And he did, too, like a campfire. 😆
I made beans today too! I canned 7 pints with just salt for making refried or soups, etc. But then cooked the leftovers with some bacon. OMG. I wanted to just eat them all! I had to get those in the freezer before I did!!!

DH and I put the three Aus cockerels in the dog crate to go to Mrs Weaver in the morning. I've been hearing crowing in the mornings, hope I did not wait too long. They are 15 weeks old. I have not seen any Bad Boy behavior out of any of them.

DId you pressure can them? Have you ever done quarts? Do you soak them first or just can them dry in water? How much beans per pint? When I pre-soak they come out so mushy. But that's what the Ball and Kerr canning guides say to do. ☹️

why would you think you waited too long? Tough meat or?

sounds good too. Its been a very long time since I made soup beans. One of my favorite dinners and probably would of starved growing up w/o them

Yes, I've heard the meat can go tough or stringy once they start to crow. But they're young so there may not be much meat on them. I probably won't fry them anyway.
