When you refinance, check online places too, not just local banks

But be careful. Had a cousin that went to one of those 'if you have bad credit we can finance you' places online. They wound up almost losing their home because they sold their loan to another company and the new company didn't contact them for 6 months. When they did they threatened to foreclose on their house because they hadn't made a payment. They hadn't made a payment because they had never contacted them with any information. Didn't help that both my cousin and his wife had learning disabilities. They were victims none the less. Wound up having to take bankruptcy in order to hang on to their home.

Get the local lending agencies to compete with one another if you have to.

I haven't mentioned it to him. I think this is going to be a long process but I have told him before I wanted to.

But if Robert's name is on the loan, then wouldn't he be responsible for making the payments if something happened to you, Granny? Could he handle that?
