Morning everyone, was rudely awoken by phones ringing this morning. Apparently somebony decided to mess with our stuff last night. SIL car had stuff stolen out of it & for some dumb reason someone went & let out all my laying hens. So when SIL & I did a walk thru to get the birds back in & to see if any of the bird's were missing. No were that I could tell, but I was furious with whoever because my dang birds took it upon themselves to tear up my flower beds that I had just spent weeding & mulching on Saturday. I don't understand why anyone would even mess with my birds. Just doesn't make sense, I expected the stuff in our veggie stand ~ pure maple syrup, pure honey & eggs to have been stolen. I checked & nothing was missing. Why would someone just steal change from SIL car & move a bunch of stuff around in his car & then go let my birds out? Makes me very leary though that a stranger was to the very back of my property

Oh my! That's not good, but to me it sounds like kids. Stealing change (no one will notice!) and looking around in the coop, maybe for eggs (to throw!) and then forgot to close the door. I think kids, and not really bad or destructive ones. Does your farm stand have a security camera? Neighbor/kids would know that and not mess with it.

I'm a little concerned that it might be a neighbor that is trying to put us out of business. He came about a month ago to tell hubby that he was putting a big veggie stand in at the intersection of our road, but that he wasn't trying to compete with us lol right. That he would be willing to even sell our product. Ok, to me that says, since our Township cracked down on the farmers advertising their veggie stands and we can no longer have a sign at the end of the road guiding people to our stand. That he his willing to buy our product (I'm sure cheaply) or I'm just going to plain put you out of business because who is going to come down to our unadvertised veggie stand when they can stop up at the top of the hill. Frustrating as h3ll.

Can you advertise on FB or craigslist?

Yes I did, probably from the neighbors if you think your one male is the daddy. Sure hope you can find homes for them. This dumping of animals needs to stop. It is horrible to have to cull unwanted or sickly animals, but the people that are responsible for them need to do it or find homes. I can personally say I HATE TO CULL sickly birds or unwanted roosters, but I take my responsibility in it if I can't heal or find homes for them

Yes our stand has security cameras & I agree it sounds more like kids messing around. Guess SIL car is too much of a piece of chit because the keys were in, yet it wasn't stolen We do advertise on CL.

Granny, how friendly are the kitties? Something I read, you had called them feral. Feral kittens won't approach a person. If it was a neighbor's cat and your male, you think the neighbor waited until they got old enough, took them away from the mama, and dumped them at your fence? That doesn't make sense, unless your neighbors are crazy. It's more like someone dumped them (so they could have a good life in the country) or the mama was living right out there, and something happened to her. I'm surprised Binks didn't eat those kitties! Wonder what happened to the mama. Maybe she didn't like all those sharp teeth coming in and decided to wean them by leaving!

I agree Lisa. I'll never understand why people get animals if they don't intend to care for them. I honestly don't like killing any animals. but if I have to I'll do it. I know that there is a lot of people that think just because someone likes to hunt that it's easy for them to kill any animal. But what some people don't understand is most of us don't even like to take any animals life. We do it because either we have to because the animal is sick or we do it for food. There is some that just kill 4 trophy. And as long is they are giving the meat away to someone that will eat it I don't have a problem with it. But most around here will fight you over a backstrap LOL.

You know, kids hurting or killing animals for fun is an early sign of mental illness.
That doesn't include real hunting.
