Granny's gone and done it again

86 in the barn right now. One is panting. What about the chicken coop ? Chickens will eat their food but maybe til the sun goes down or is that not too hot ?
If they were here, I'd dunk them in some water, but don't think that would help for long in the humidity. With the rabbits, we always put frozen water bottles in their pens for them to snuggle.

Alley...fwiw.
I switched from starter to layer....(I don't have "grower' feed here) when I got my first egg.
I have never bought oyster shell.
I have had only one shell less egg and that was in the first week of my girls starting to lay. Never had any other problems with anything regarding eggs...ever.

I don't even know what all flock is.

I believe that layer feed is what is it...what it was made for...a complete feed for laying hens and that is what I use it for.

I am willing to argue with anyone til I am blue in the face about the benefits of fermenting feed and feeding corn....but I don't.

There are many many people on this site that have been racing (raising..i do not proof read and auto correct hates me) chickens for 30 plus years...which tells me they are old. Older people (again ) are stuck in their ways and don't want to believe or listen to anything anyone has to say.

I'll go back to my corner now..

Granny...they were born outside...
They will survive. They don't know any different.

Alley beat me to it!

I have to go. The kid is giving me the hairy eyeball. We are supposed to run to the store and pick up his friend on the way back. Back later. :frow

Ally, dont worry about all that. Old means set in their ways. almost everyone that has done something the same way their whole life and it works for them sees no reason to change. Most dont care about the roos. you do. and thats good that you want whats best for them. Your not alone in that. Some people have very expensive roos and your words may help them out. That was just a fly on your shoulder, brush it off. :hugs

Thanks granny :hugs I don't like being cornered. Which is what the river sludge made me feel like. It was hard to keep my cool. And since I tend to get very mouthy with a lot of colorful words...I think I did well.

I'm not saying layer feed is bad per say, I just always see threads with problems and they feed layer. So my brain screams stay away from it!

Haha old does not mean wise. There's enough proof of that where I live. Which is why I throw on the brakes when people start sprouting off years and time.

Hey sis pm me about FF I've been wanting to try it but scared I'll mess it up. I want to give it to the littles in a pan. They waste too much crumble in the gravity feeder. Someone probably biddy has been IN the feeder.

Ally, thoughts on putting the kittys with the LF chickens ? Tons cooler and room to run and play. They could possibly get out if they climbed high enough.
