We use to dam the creek up and play in the ice cold water but my bones ache when it that cold

I took my baths in a creak in KY. all we had was a well. No running water , no bathroom inside.

so other then cadavers what did you catch in the Detroit river??

steelhead, freshwater trout , pan fish and cat. I never eat but one cat and that was from Sterling state park

caught a lot of lg. mouth bass in Ga. and sunfish/panfish. /crappe . depends on who your asking.
caught speckled trout in Fl. caught a blow fish once. LOL went crabbing. yum.

isn't Steelhead a type of trout ??

its full of bones, some like it. I dont think its fit to eat BUT they are big and really fun to bring in.
