One vanished from the cage, the other managed to A). Forget where the water was on an 85 degree f day, and then B.) Stand in the ONE patch of sunlight until it died of heat stroke. I didn't get to it in time, was nearly gone when I got home from church.How did they do that?

Yeah, the cautionary part is never underestimate the stupidity of quail. If I try them again they're going in a fully shaded, non-drafty, 1/4in HWC cage with several water bowls that have stones in so they can't drown themselves. Oh, and a padded ceiling cos they'll "boink" and kill themselves.I feel like there has to be some sort of interesting story...or cautionary tale
