Granny's gone and done it again

I am so frustrated with the gardens this year. It's either too much rain, not enough rain, too hot, not hot enough, blight & different bugs destroying all the plants. I am so over this year. Just too much painful work to watch it being destroyed by nature. I even had to start a fire today in the fire pit to burn some zucchini leaves & stems. Cucumber beetles are reeking havic. The whole underside of the leaves were coated with eggs. Never seen it so bad. Have already treated whole garden 3 times for the cucumber beetle. Got Japanese beetles eating my green bean leaves to pieces, that is any of the leaves that aren't covered in rust. Grr....... better stop while I'm ahead lol.
Sounds like 10 times extra work with all those bugs. There was an article in the paper today about the local Gravenstein apple harvest being very spotty for the same reason... roller coaster temps, unusual rain, bugs and more bugs. Hit and miss, as some crops did very well this year. My Gravenstein tree has 3 apples on it, but the golden delish is loaded. I have to prop up the limbs this year. And peaches and cherries are extra good this year.

tell me again what am I supposed to do w/ tomatoes ? Blanch or just wash and freeze ? and then what are good for ?
They're good for anything that has cooked tomatoes in it.

How do you exist in that weather?
Barley!

Good morning, or whatever time you are currently experiencing. How're y'all?

Getting caffeinated before checking my littles - sleeping out in their new coop! :wee No crating them up this morning to go out. I can clear out the brooder and reclaim my sun porch! Finish work is much more fun than building. :celebrate

20 days since we broke ground. Not terrible considering the rainstorms, deluges, floods, and hundreds of feet of French drains. Just don't talk to me about the budget. Really. Just don't. :smack
