Granny's gone and done it again

Better? I'm older than dirt & I still eat one thing at a time, except peas & mashed potatoes. Grandpa was the same way. Sauces & gravy are fine, though
Oh yeah, better. No more paralyzing meltdowns if the food is touching. We can eat with family now, we can eat out now, we can swing by a deli and get a sandwich on the way now, and I don't have to pack special food like I did when he was 8. For him it was an over sensitivity to food textures and flavors and a low tone and ability to control the muscles around his mouth. Had speech articulation problems and he could not chew and swallow raw carrot to save his life, no matter how long he chewed, poor kid. You'd never know it to meet him today. 19 now and he is making his own lunch to take for work. He'd still rather not eat out unless it's at one of his few special places, but he will at least try different things now.
A quirk is one thing, and most people (adults) I know have them one way or another (we call them preferences). But when the "quirk" impacts the person's life to the point where it becomes debilitating or isolating from "normal" society, it can rise to the level of disability. He's just mildly quirky now :) like most of us.

Yes, peas and mashed potatoes belong together! :p

Shalom and hello to grannyland especially to the floridian members! (If there is any of those)
Hi Benny! :frow You missed an interesting fact about venomous copperhead snakes... if touched when agitated, they emit a musk that smells like cucumbers! We were wondering why so many cats are scared of cucumbers (you put one behind them when they are not looking and they freak out!) and thought maybe the cucumber smell evoked a fear of snakes. Doubt that other snakes smell as nice, though, so we need to do some more research. Do you have a cat we can test? :D
