Granny's gone and done it again

Lot of snoring at granny's tonight! The days are getting shorter, but it's some of the nicest weather now, through October. Busy time to eat a bunch, stash away more food, and prepare for the dark days. Few more months and I will be sitting here writing in front of a fire. ahhhh
Husband just spent quite a while cleaning out the wood stove. We have not used it since we moved here. It is going to be nice to have a fire indoors again.

I need another feeder. I like the one I have and was going to get another til I priced them. I use the 5 gal. galvanized
How 'bout something like this?

I've modified it slightly to eliminate the spillage problem, but it's super-easy to make.

That reminds me, we need to brush out the stove pipe. There is something about sitting in front of a fire. Very comforting.
Do you get a lot of snow in your part of the world?
Yes, Virginia gets snow. I have not been here in the winter yet. But i lived in New York, Nova Scotia, and TN and survived. The thing i hate is when the animal waterers freeze. But i love wood stoves. Ours is in the great room, and we always spend our evenings there. Husband has wood in many places on our property, he just needs to split and collect it. Lots of dead trees out there.

Bummer. Expensive bummer
Back when I had over 300 birds I had feed delivered in bulk and put into a silo like this only it was metal it fell into the old coop I didn't realize it had been moldy til yesterday or that these birds would be way down there free ranging but they was headed that way

Good mornings ! Whites, reason I need another feeder is because theres not enough room at the one I have. They are jocking over who gets there first. Cause their starved to death you know. LOL I hate using an open pan because they poop in it and spill it out. I like that you use but would need 10 of them and it would cost less to buy the other kind.

What's an Asian blue? Had them at TSC today along with California white, rir, and isa browns. Not much interested. Bought goat feed.
According to Hoover's Hatchery:
The Asian Blue is a dual purpose bird, the hens lay medium to large brown eggs and the roosters are a good meat bird. Has striking colors of blue/green hue on black and red feather pattern. They are a slower growing bird with the males reaching 4-4.5 lbs live weight in 12 weeks, females in 15 weeks. Hardy bird that can adapt to many growing conditions. Available all year.

Basically a production bird. I bet they are some sort of sex link using Australorps to get the iridescence in the feathers. Probably one of the dumbest names ever. They are not blue colored, do not lay blue eggs, and like almost all Asian breeds (except some bantams) they do not have feathered legs, at least not in the tiny pic on the website. My TSC was selling Asian Black chicks. No feathered legs for them either.
