Granny's gone and done it again

Are you considering new breeds? Have you looked at Icelandics? The colors vary, and they are a landrace, which means the breed is more about preserving a pool of genes rather than isolating a specific look or color. Pretty sure they are cold tolerant too. Silver penciled rocks and partridge rocks are also some of the prettiest hens, I think.

yes, was looking at the icelandic this am. they look nice, think I like the swedish flower better but they are look a likes. I dont know those others. I will take a look. I had a chance once to buy a pr. of chickens that were Humongous ! Bigger then giants. special breed. show stock.

I don't think the pictures are doing it justice.

Devin just called. He's stuck on the freeway. He says the storm is kicking and a bolt of lightning struck right over his head. He told me to make sure the kids stay inside. It's gotten dark outside. Poor guy is gonna be standing in this mess all day.
He should be safe in the car, tires protect from the lightening traveling up from the ground. Keep hands on the wheel and don't touch the metal.

Lots of the show stock birds are way bigger than hatchery JGs. Langshans and Brahmas are massive. Minorcas and even the rocks are huge. Only thing is, big birds eat more. That's why I thought of Icelandics for you, except the idea would be to not crossbreed and keep their gene pool pure. Chicken racism!!!
