Trichomoniasis is an opportunistic organism. It appears to strike during periods of over crowding or stress. I also feel that there may be some birds that are genetically more susceptible than others. Treatment can include copper sulfate or Metronidazole - also sold as 'Fishzole' in the pet stores.

That is also a possibility. I guess the only way to be sure would be to culture the crud. Pox will eventually run it's course. Canker is generally progressive.
