Thats a pretty great idea those shoots. And yes it does calm them. Tempel Granden (sp) discovered this and changed how cows were treated and brought to slaughter. She is a wonderful woman and Autistic. I have her life story on dvd. She is an inspiration to others.

yes CALM is good safety for both is better.Granny managed to run thru the chute (I wasn't operating it) so around she had to go again. Porter helped the second time and was busy pushing/nudging/guiding and gently using his horns to get her thru the chute the second time. Then he calmly walked up the alley way put stopped when told to stood still for his shot and then backed up and out of the chute with just being told to back up an number of times.![]()
no he is flying out sat/sun/mon he fly's for free so can only go when there are empty seats. Same brother as one who will be here thanksgiving.
It truly amazes me how calm and the awareness of his horn's and where/what they could touch Porter has/is. And how he will try different angles of his head to check if he can go through a tight spot.

I know they have feeling in the horn bud. Al that was left on the one side of granny after she knocked off her horn in a chute last year. She is very leary of head gates and will try to bolt thru then as quick as she can in order to not get caught and I honestly don't blame her
Star was just mellow and more then willing to eat treats while in the chute
