Granny's gone and done it again

Have you raised ducks before Camping ? They/mine were so messy. they stunk all the time. 

My first ducks! I'm prepared for the mess, but I'm not sure anything can be more disgusting than guinea keets.

Camping, I know adult male muscovies are almost twice the size of the females.  Are you noticing any size difference in the ducklings?

Little Sunny is tiny, but that's the only one. They seem all about the same right now.

oh come on ! Dont tell me I am the only one that can drown a duck ! hahaa
They are too little and get chilled easy ? I dont know. I was told not to until they got their down.
I did drown one.

I know you cant let them swim even though they are ducks.

I have them bowls big enough to wade in. That's swimming for now! And they like to get under the water when I fill the bowl up. I put the towel under the heat light in the brooder so they dry quickly and don't get chilled.

I know you cant let them swim even though they are ducks.

huh?  Why not?  My mama took her babies swimming right away.  They loved it. 

Ducklings aren't waterproof on their own. Mama shares her oils with them, so that works.

I put mine in the bath tub and got busy doing something. I guess it got tired. That was a long time ago. In Mi.

I haven't been given a limit. If they're as good at clearing ponds and eating mosquitoes as we've heard, DH may want 15 more. I think 8 is a good starter number.
