Well, as if I didn't already love and appreciate our landlords, today has moved them up yet another notch in my mind. Woke up to DH informing me that the shower was out of commission - the on/off was not functioning as it should. Apparently he couldn't get it to come on - then it worked but he couldn't get it off - finally got it turned off and we should leave it that until he got home to look at it. Um, no, that is the joy of being renters......we will leave it turned off until we get in touch with the landlord and they can decide if they want you to look at it, want to look at it themselves or want to send someone over to fix it for them. Fast forward a couple of hours and DH calls to tell me he had gotten in touch with them and they were going to swing by sometime today to take a look -- not 20 minutes after that they pulled up. Dan (LL) took a look, confirmed that a part had worn out/broken, went out to the car where he already had a new assembly ready to go and in about 5 minutes had it fixed and was waving goodbye. Also mentioned that if we need/want a Christmas tree to give them a call as they have a tree farm and we can come out and pick out whatever we like - and discussed the plans for the front yard, he's going to haul away the chips that were left from taking out a tree, put in some top soil and get it planted with grass. I had mentioned that we were still adjusting to the fact that grass grows here pretty much year round and that we needed to hurry up and get a lawn mower so we could mow now that the grass in the side and back yards had come back (it was all but dead from drought when we moved in, the rainy season has fixed that problem right up) - he told me there was no rush on getting a mower, he'd be back by in the next couple of days with their bagging mower and get it knocked down for us. We SO lucked out when this house fell into our laps!
I bet that landlord is thinking the same thing about you as tenants... boy was I lucky to find these wonderful, responsible renters!

Dh forgot to close gate & let the horse get out. I gave him fermented corn to get her to come back across the road. He just set the pail down in front of her & walked off. Here i go in my housecoat & gown across the road with a hoe handle. Bum knee, upset stomach, & it was drizzling raiin. I told her to get home & threw the hoe handle at her(didn t hit her) '& she ran for the gate. Gave dh a piece of my mind & went back to lay down & rest.
How does someone that has animals forget to close a gate?

Cardinal rule when I was growing up with all those horses, keeping the gates closed.

Going into my 13th hour of work.

Hello hello hellooooo! I am worn out! Sis and I were out all day. Started early, and it was great, but then about an hour later, it got hard to find parking. Makes me all claustrophobic when there are that many people around.

I did, however, manage to get a Christmas tree!

It's beginning to smell a lot like Christmas! Can't wait to get it set up inside so I can smell the piney goodness.

I have been wondering where everyone went, and just saw that I got kicked off the wifi again.

Twist, you got smacked for your little poem? Guess we best watch our step around here. Big brother (Big Rooster?) is out there... watching.

They are looking red in the face, but so far, no eggs. Only one hen is laying, about every other day. Today's precious egg got pecked open by the stupid jays! Dogs got it with dinner.
