Granny's gone and done it again

Hey all, been buzy the last few days. We were asked if we wouldn't mind letting a now homeless family live in our old place. They were renting from another family in our church ward when the house they were staying in burned to the ground. Absolutely nothing left. They've been lucky enough to be able to stay with the wife's sister, but since we have the nearly empty house, it would be nice for them to have a place to stay.

So, I spent about 20 minutes today trying to shovel the driveway before my bil showed up with the tractor and plowed out not only the driveway, but a path almost up to the door. That was quite the blessing, as the snow was about 18" deep and 3' at the berm in front. It was an extra special blessing, acruelly as this is my bil who just had spinal surgery about 2 months ago. Needless to say, he's going to be getting a delivery of chocolate chip cookies as a thank you.

We are hoping to be completely moved out of the main house by the end of January at the latest and a bunch of the garage stuff moved by then, too.

I gotta say though, I'm so glad we are getting all this snow. Winter has always been my favorite time of year and the huge amount of snow this year is like a whole extra sundae, not just a cherry on top.

Wow, you have a very busy life. How nice of you to let others use your place. BIL sounds like a gem.

I've had itchy ears and scratchy throat all day. Need to follow my own advice of tea and honey and a scarf. DH has a bunch of friends coming over and this place looks like an episode of hoarders. There are six trash bags of toys waiting to be sorted for donation right by the fireplace. In direct sight of the door and all "common" areas in the home.

We can't postpone because he volunteered us to be a "jumping off point" for a backpacking trip. I love seeing those boys BUT they'd better mind their manners tomorrow.

I didn't get anything done today because we met with my parents, bro and sil, aunt and her boys, other aunt and her "adopted" DD (and her two kids) and other aunt's gd and my grandma. It was a table of 17. :yesss: Afterwards the four campingshaws and aunt+boys + other aunts gd went bowling and then played mini golf. So it was a day much better spent than staying home and cleaning.

Here's a pic of my grandma (we call her Donny) and her grands and great grands. We're missing the baby because he got fussy and was in the car with his mom.

I had a wonderful visit and I am feeling very blessed for all they have done for us but mostly just their company. It felt good to"adult" for a little while. CB of course wouldnt stay away from them . He loves them and would go home with Rod I do believe. Tom and Robert stayed out of their rooms and visit . They are of course right back in there already.

Good morning all Well Rod was gone by the time I got up and just called a little bit a go and managed to power thru the snow drifts. It's a lot safer to do/try this in the daylight. Beautiful sunny day and supposed to get up to the 20's
