Granny's gone and done it again

If i disappear for a few days dont freak out. They are predictin up to 1" of freezing rain & that will take down power lines here. Supposed to start at noon. Snow tonight. 3" they predict. High saturday of 32*. Cooking my sweet tator pie & meat loaf now. Made extra tea. What will we do without coffee?

They are predicting 3-6 inches of rain starting at midnight. Don't tell bubba but it might flood! Big storm with lots of water for three days.

I did hear that on the radio today. And 8 ft of snow on the mountains?

Jane and h2o be safe!

Must get you guys a French press and a little camp stove so you can still have coffee ;)

Sadly have today off. Got so much to do at the office and having it be two weeks in a row of Monday off kind of hoops me (and I do need the money) but boss lady....sigh. Even though we're crazy busy we won't get paid for these jobs for a bit so she's trying to tighten up on payroll as she can. I think she's choked I took a sick day last week and some sick hours to make up for Monday off and some time I had to run off for house stuff.

Hubs is taking a sick day today. Hmmm. Well, he may be called in to get things done today. Got some more bits n bobs to move and gotta set up big kid internet and all that jazz.

Aaaand....since it rained yesterday the road into us has turned into slicker than whale snot...snot! Was interesting driving my wagon home...almost thought I'd get stuck...keep the momentum up keep the momentum up....need to get offroadvo fixed! That thing has much better tires for the mud! (And higher ground clearance!)

The girls were giving hubs the stink eye and guilt squawks yesterday when he checked on them. Sigh. Sunday I hope. I miss my girls!!! I need to get them some fresh straw too. All the rain....no bueno.

Once we move them, I'll put sand in there though. Would just be way too much weight for the crane though with sand to move it.

I've got a lot of catching up to do, but how is everyone?

Good luck with that move. It sounds like you will be very happy there.

I think so. We got most of the house stuff moved over and done - just a bunch of little things now. (And the fish tank.) gotta do window treatments/curtains and some other things but that'll happen as we have funds. Paying rent this month and mortgage next month is slurping my bank account.

Hubs plans on grading a bit of the yard this weekend so he can place the coop and his two containers for a shop. Then we can move garage/container stuff from the old house over.

Whee!

We live in country with no neighbors. I actually like my windows curtain free. I love letting in all the sunlight.

Morning all. day 18 ! I think one egg is not right . it spinned when we did the float test very slowly. no wiggle and I dont see a thing. One of the blue eggs.
Jane, that sounds so very scary. I know what 1/4in did to us. We were stuck in the house unable to even open a door for days . I hope you have water , food , heat and coffee even if its cold. . You can heat it on the stove if you have power. Let your water drip .

And dont go out and break anything to get to the chickens. Chances are you wont be able to get to them or even open their door. You are more important. Overfeed them now before it hits.

Me too and dont care if neighbors can see or not. If they never seen it before they dont know what their looking at and if they have then it dont matter anyway. LOL

You can make cowboy coffee! Put the coffee and water in a pan, heat it up some, then strain the whole thing slowly through a coffee filter. My MIL quit using a coffee maker years ago. She puts her ground coffee in a filter lined funnel (with a very small opening), and pours hot water over and it trickles into the cup. Kind of reverse cowboy coffee.

Whatever you do, hope you stay warm and safe. Do you have a way to cook/heat source when the power goes out?

Oh, and a few days of freezing rain is going to freak me out!!!

I'll be in the same rain storm as h2o, but I'm closer to the ocean. 5-8 inches expected over the weekend, and it will continue to rain for several more days. It's a tropical storm, and will keep the lows in the 40-50s. Big snow up in the mountains, snow level will be up to 8000' because of the warmth, so there will be a big melt down below that. I'll be surprised if there isn't flooding. Latest prediction is that we could have rain coming in for 10 more days! This could be historic! I need to set up some rain shelters out in the chicken yard for the layers.

Gd & me put extra feed out & extra pails of water. Not going out on ice. Gd going home to mom soon. We may not have any heat but fireplace which without blower doesnt heat well.
