Dad was 4 years older and out lived her by 4 years.

I'll join the fun! My grandma was gorgeous.

She was an old maid at 28 when they got married. He had been married before, but his wife died (sickly). Grandma was also pregnant, but that was an extremely deeply guarded family secret. Dad was born in Phoenix (no family around) and announcements were sent a month late to hide it. Anyway, they got married at grandma's mom's house.

LOL there was a lot of that back in the day. Grandma was a divorcie with 2 small children Became Grandfather's housekeeper they got married in aug and my father was born in Jan and THAT AIN"T 9 months.

Yes, but not at the time. She was the baby of 8, and 4 of her brothers went to war. All came home, but one was paraplegic. Her oldest brother stayed to maintain the homestead. Grandma got married in 1960.
