Granny's gone and done it again

This storm was supposed to go south and bother Prostar.  It's been raining here all day!  Lot of wind.  There was a little suv tipped over on it's side in the ditch when I drove into town today.  Hope Prostar isn't flooding down there.



144 eggs!  That's a lot of work.  I like the double yolker! 

Okay I got another page to catch up on. It only started raining before five or so here. Wind though all day. Its supposed to come down buckets overnight, we got all the flood watches and warnings.

This is why we have a house with elevation. And I got more shavings from the feed store today when I was oot and aboot so once the rain stops, I can muck outthe coop again. Cause let's face it. Rain aplenty plus wind = my coop has no hope. The floor already slopes a bit to the coop side - hubs and I need to fix that.

I had to call Robert to read that chart. Its odd. Looks like you are in for it though. What type of soil do you have ? I have been doing the deep litter method for as long as my coop has been up and it still floods.

How do you keep deep litter going in the winter?

Here, the poop freezes into marbles before it has a chance to get mixed in.

I just add to the top. I use peat moss for sand because we are all clay . Thats the worst time but then shavings on top of that and im good .

It never did freeze solid this winter. My favorite is the shavings bcause all I do is open the bag and dump it in the middle of the run. Chickens do all the work. LOL And I might say, they do a pretty good job of it too. layer by layer..

ITs kinda Clay like but it's a moot point - the coop is off the ground. It's all built off the back of a smaller garbage truck.

I see your point. seems like that would dry right up. bigger slant maybe .

I was a horrid child. I actually pooped in the floor one night becaus I was in a new bedroom and scared to death and blamed the dog. Hiked my tail off the edge of the bed. I remember this so I had to be about CBs age or older.

I put make up our dog once..though when I was lil I didn't teeth much and now I chew on everything working on that, vaping has help (not nicotine vape)
