Hello and good morning! I meet a carpool a few minutes down the road for my #2 son to catch a ride to school. We wait in a wide driveway, and yesterday there was a dead deer square in the middle of the drive, many vultures lurking. This morning, the deer had been pulled to the side, draped over the border of small landscaped area, one back leg sticking up at an odd angle. There was also a truck with a man and his son intently watching the deer. I said hi, explained that we were waiting for a carpool, and he said they were watching a coyote with the deer. A coyote?? I haven't seen or heard one around here in years. Thought maybe the guy had seen a fox, since we have many, and enlarged it in his mind. Stepped out and took a look and sure enough, biggest coyote I've ever seen! He went and hid, but I'm sure it was the coyote that dragged the doe. Won't be surprised if he drags it off completely. Poor vultures are going to lose their lunch! Glad to see that nothing goes to waste. And that was my wildlife adventure for the day.
