Granny's gone and done it again

Nothing wrong with getting a little hot and sticky. Do it Twists way and you will just end up with holes in the sheets.

I get so aggravated...I do not like to sleep hot and or sweaty...it drives me nuts.

I like it super cold where I have to use a blanket.
He likes to sleep with basically nothing on and freezes..I tell him to just put some darn clothes on....nope.

step SIL called, DD still in ICU. Hospital still running on generator. No tv, no hot food.
Did someone break your bowl??? Kids drive me crazy. I've had a book or a toy for over 40 years. They get hold of it and ruined in an instant!

Wishing, could I trouble you for that peanut butter/borax ant bait recipe again? I looked up several online but none of them seemed right. The ants are nesting right where pancake is nesting, so I need to get them killed off before the chicks get here.
The trick is putting enough borax in to kill the ants, but not so quickly that they croak before getting the bait back to the nest to share. I will try to find a recipe. Think I was looking on youtube. Peanut butter for protein eating ants, sugar or corn syrup for sugar ants. You have to keep the chickens from eating it. Remind me if I don't post it later tonight. Dinner time approaches, so it will be awhile.

How long does it take for a chicken to eat something to make the color of their yolk change?

I have read that if they eat marigold flowers the yolk will turn more orange.
Would they need to eat it the day before...and the next day the yolk would show it...
Or would they need to eat it for days before a color change is noticed?

Just curious.
Sounds like an excellent science experiment! Let us know what you find out.

Quote: I see you were already thinking about this. I always thought it would be an excellent project for 4h. Carotinoids (natural pigments found in green and yellow plants) are what puts the color in the yolks. Also, if you have a hen with yellow legs, you will see her leg color fade over the laying season as the pigments stored in the skin go into the eggs. It also has some impact on the intensity of the external shell color.
