Granny's gone and done it again

High 20s. I'm not going to work on it. That could jeopardize the other eggs.

only one hens egg doing that ? I have read that before. It involves sandpaper. LOL

Most of the eggs are the leghorn from Texas. Mavis lays a great big green egg. She's with that OE marans, so I'm dying to know what colors her daughters will lay.

sometimes a hen puts more bloom on an egg then normal and it cant evaporate as quickly . Taking a piece of sandpaper and gently rubbing the top of the egg will make it pourus and allow it to lose correct weight. They dont recommend this for dirty eggs.

The bloom kinda fascinates me and I never hear/read too much about it. Its one of the most important steps in the egg laying process. How can you increase it ? Or in mavis eggs, decrease it. Washing your eggs I know you feel the difference . some have none , some will slip right out of your hands . Why ?
