Granny's gone and done it again

That's what my mom did. She surprised me with 6 chicks and 7 ducklings. The ducklings are hers but wants me to take care of them. The ducklings pen I clean out yesterday and it's completely sand. Hmm maybe I can do something about the watering can.
You are more patient than I am. Wednesday makes a week and I want them gone already

I have wanted and NOT wanted ducks for the longest. The mess was the main reason for the NOT.
Once the weather decides to be constant and they can go outside, they will be fine additions.
The six chicks I bought were my decision also.

Hoping I chose wisely from the mixed bantam bin.

I had wanted them for months! No way I was going to complain and never have them again.

My mom has wanted ducks for years but with all the animals I drug home when I was younger there was never time. Now there's no time and no space and she's slacking on the responsibility

she tried today to undo the waterer and couldn't, then complained that it was dirty

I never want ducks again. I'll stick to chickens.

How long til they can go outside? I have heard stories of the messes they make. I just think 1 or 2 would be fine as adults but then again she thinks she can just put them on the pond and be done with it. No food or shelter because don't they eat things out if the pond? And like water?

Well, temps are warm here with lows 58 - 62 F and highs 78 - 82 F the next few days, so my main concern is the off and on rain. I feel my babies should be dryish for now. Ducklings are 2 weeks old today. I can keep them dry inside but can't guarantee it outside. Hope to have them out in about a week.

My chicks are a Buff bantam Brahma cockerel and a Light bantam Brahma (hopefully pullet) and 4 bantam Easter Eggers - one is definitely a cockerel - NONE are positively EE. Hence the hope.

I raised 3 pekin ducks in a large wire cage and they stunk something terrible. I would not do it again but I did love my duck. They are funny creatures full of personality.

Weather here is all over the place. Moms are getting bare patches and I see tiny white feathers on a few. Not sure on age.

For you that they are pullets and EE!

I'm hoping for pullet bantams but not getting my hopes up.
