Granny's gone and done it again

If they have green legs, they are EE. If they lay green eggs, they are EE. If they are not one of the colors accepted into the Ameraucana SOP, they are EE. Hatchery as big as Privet is not breeding carefully enough to keep up standard of perfection, so their birds are a hatchery version of Am's called EE, for some reason, on this site. It's the only place I've ever heard the phrase. I have a feeling "Easter Egger" was a marketing name from a hatchery for non-standard Ameraucanas. It's the Ameraucana breeders that INSIST we recognize the difference (or they get MAD!). Frankly, I have never seen a bird od any breed from a large hatchery that met it's SOP close enough to meet the breed requirements. In the chicken world, if it doesn't meet the breed requirements, it is not considered part of the breed. You might get one once in a while that comes close, but it will be an inferior specimen and never win at a poultry show.

That being said, I love my hatchery birds. They lay lots of lovely eggs and rarely go broody. Good for me!!
The legs are not green. They are black, "slate".

The birds are not a recognized color for Ameraucana SOP.

I heard Easter Egger long before I heard Americana (with an i ) or Ameraucauna, which was admitted to the APA in 1984. My Texarkana, Tx husband grew up with Easter Eggers and they were the first chickens I ever owned. He was born 1958. Texarkana probably not at the forefront of chicken fashion trends.

It's my understanding from this site that Ameraucanas resulted from a concerted effort to refine easter eggers to specific colors and the blue egg shell gene. The Araucana was a landrace breed of no specific feather color and rumpless. Lots of work to CREATE the Ameraucana. I have been struggling with purebreds (purchased 4/14) and have the only purebred progeny after 3 years. Beautiful birds with beautiful eggs, but I will stick with the EEs from now on.

I know there is controversy and that is why I mentioned all the possibilities. My chicks may yet develop full-fledged rose combs and who knows? But I'm hopeful they will lay green or blue-green eggs and I will call them EEs if they do!

I loves me some purty eggs!

hahahaaa, I know a ton ok a few men that like to cook and are very good at it too.
Twist likes to cook but only for company. He eats crap when its just him. He is a good cook !
I would probably never cook again if it was just me though.

See I don't like to cook for others lol and seldom do I even cook for myself. But then again sometimes I forget to eat.

When I was in college I'd cook up a storm! Make a lot and eat it for a week.

I tried to teach my brother to cook when we were teenagers. Tried being the key word.

hate cooking period. Dont care who its for. It takes all day to grocery shop, half a day to prepare and 5 mins. to eat. A big waste of time . then all the clean up. And IF Im lucky I will hear, "its alright".

And Jane, she grows a ton of their food . That is a hard scrabble life right there. I dont care if you are enjoying it . LOL

I tried last year to grow a garden and I just didn't have the time to care for it. Too much rain and weeds over took it.
It's great that Jane grows so much, I don't know how she's does it.

I have been hungry way too much to ever be real picky on what I eat. I draw the line at spoiled stuff though like cottage cheese, yogurt. LOL
