Quote: That's interesting to know how long EEs have been around! I wonder if the breeders came up with the name Ameraucana, and now the hatcheries are using it for EEs. I always thought it was the other way around, but I bet not. I can understand the breeders trying to keep things clear, especially since the breed is so new, I just don't think that should come at the expense of good manners.I first ran across them in the early 90's when I got 3 chicks. The sign on their cage said they were Araucana, but the man gleefully corrected me to say they were Ameraucanas! Only one was an SOP color (wheaten), but they all laid blue eggs. They were very nice birds.![]()
Has the ABA accepted bantam Ameraucanas? Was just wondering. If the the bantams are supposed to be a smaller version of the large fowl, they should have pea combs (not rose combs).
These are my 2 Ameraucanas I got from a breeder. The buff is Poppy and the wheaten is Dash.

Kids are nuts, there's testing going on in 2/3 grades I work with and kindergarten went on a field trip. Tomorrow can't be over soon enough.
