Aug 26, 2014 - I don't know why you'd want to eat something that's as black as a ... slaughtering it for a quick snack, because one chicken costs around $2,500!
I saw some silkies packaged in the butcher case of an asian supermarket. Forget the per pound price, but seems like they were around $10 each for a small carcass.



I think I just did an uh oh. I had about a cup of chicken broth left over and thought why should I let that sit in the fridge to ruin so I mixed it in the dogs water dish filling it up. I think its 2 quarts. Pup drank every drop of it. Might be one quart but I bet his bladder is gonna hurt come am.

Yes first time broody.. the others are only like a day older.. these babies are from the babies I got last July. I will check it tomorrow and figure a way to kind of keep them separate from bigger chickens maybe. Do you think she would freak out if I put her and babies in with the other broody hen I have that has one baby
I would try to put her with the other broody, but watch them for awhile to see how they react. Sometimes they get along great and sometimes the hen with older chicks will go after the littles, and not in a good way. Best case, the hens do well together and your older hen will help with the babies. Worst case, you have to keep them separate.



Tried making baby back ribs, it didn't come out too well. I cooked them in the crock pot to get all fat out. Then roasted them in the oven. Still had a lot of fat.
What did I do wrong?
We do Asian style, marinate over night. Ribs go in a baking pan tightly covered with foil at 325 for an hour or two. Foil comes off for the 3rd and last hour. You can pour off the excess water and fat that comes off them and marinate and turn. I do short ribs, though, so baby backs probably take less cooking.
