I have always wondered how well the calculator works. I think you have to be very sure of what genes your birds have to be completely accurate. For example, if each parent had one copy of a white recessive gene, you wouldn't know it to look at them since they won't show any white in their feathers, but the chick could be white if it got one white gene from each parent. Color genetics are very complicated... there are even genes that affect color genes, kind of like a switch that can turn things on and off, dilution genes too. Even in people, the color of eyes is not 100% understood, especially with hazel type eyes.

I have BRs, Australorps, and a Buff Orp. The father is a Blue Andalusian. The only non blue or black should have been sex link cockerels. But I have chicks with cream on their wings and neck that are not from the Buff. I'm beyond confused.
